Wow! What a beautiful day and what a terrific turn out. A very respectable 111 walkers and runners participated in this years event.
For the third year three additional prizes where given out. The first was from the Liz Harris Fund, which gave the first finishing high school man and women a $250 dollar gift certificate to any athletic camp that they wish to attend. The winners were Brianna Minervino, 14 of Higganum CT and Brandon Mehlinger, of Lisbon. The second was an anonymous gift of $30.30 to the individual that finished 30th in this years race; which went to Ryan Elphick of Norwich CT. All runners and walkers were also eligible for our end of the race raffle, with items donated from LoPresti’s Farm. Brandon Mehlinger, our youngest winner to date, was the first runner to cross the finish line in a respectable 17:35, averaging 5:40 a mile. This was Brandon's first win in his very first start. Brianna Minervino of Higganum was the 20th overall finisher and the first female runner to finish with a time of 23:59.
